Tulsi Jellies
In the spirit of calm and resilience, and the chatter about tulsi (see my previous post here), I'd love to share this recipe from BioConcepts. Tulsi is a marvellous support for your nervous system, and helps foster calm and resilience. These gummies also contain gut loving gelatin and ginger (our guts often feel the impact of stress...like an upset stomach when you're upset, or 'butterflies in your tummy' when you're nervous). Not to mention, the ginger and optional honey are great for the immune system (our immunity can also take a whack with stress...for example, you're more likely to catch a cold when you're run down). Oh and they're cheap, easy to make, delicious and a fabulous alternative to lollies when you're craving something sweet (something that also often happens when we're stressed!).
2 ½ tablespoons powdered gelatin (you could try agar as a vegan alternative) 3 tablespoons tulsi tea laves or 3 tulsi tea bags 1 piece of ginger root, chopped (about 2.5cm) 2 cups + 4 tablespoons boiling water Pinch of salt 2 tablespoons honey (optional) 1. Place gelatin in a bowl and add 4 tablespoons boiling water, whisk and set aside until gelatin is dissolved (about 5 minutes). 2. Put the tulsi, ginger and 2 cups boiling water into a heatproof bowl or jug. Allow to steep for 30 minutes. 3. Add the tulsi mixture to the gelatin mixture and whisk lightly. Strain into a jug. 4. Add a pinch of salt and stir in the honey if you’re using it. 5. Pour into moulds (ice cube trays work fantastically) and refrigerate for 4 hours or until set.
